
Roger Federer talks pickleball: 'I like to watch Jack Sock'
DALLAS, TX – More and more former athletes are growing increasingly curious about pickleball, picking up paddles, and dinking around to give it a shot.
With 20 Grand Slam titles on his resume, former tennis star Roger Federer is the latest to dabble in America’s fastest-growing sport.
In an interview with Extra to promote his upcoming Prime Video documentary “Federer: Twelve Final Days,” the Swiss legend shared that he recently played pickleball for the first time.
“I played about 10 days ago in Vietnam... and it felt like a big version of ping pong,” shared Federer. “I still have to play doubles. I only played quick singles, but it was unreal hot, about 110 degrees when I played, so I was more battling the circumstances than actually the game.”
Admittedly, Federer has been watching pickleball highlights online.
“I like to watch Jack Sock... I see some highlights of him on YouTube,” he confirmed. “It’s an easier game than tennis, and it’s fun for sure.”
And while Federer also indicated that he won't be joining the PPA Tour like Genie Bouchard, Donald Young, and Sam Querrey in the future, never say never when it comes to professional athletes who appreciate the thrill of competition.
