Brascia advances to Championship Sunday with singles victory over Devidze
MESA, AZ – Fourth-seeded Mary Brascia arrived on Humana Championship Court primed to play Salome Devidze in the semis at the Mesa Arizona Cup.
And it showed in the scoreline, with Brascia winning 11-3, 11-5.
“I can’t believe it. I’ve been working so hard. When I get zoned in, I kind of just black out. I just get in the zone and it worked out for me today,” said Brascia.
Brascia will go head-to-head with World No. 1 Anna Leigh Waters for gold on Sunday.
“I feel great about it. I love being in Arizona. We’re staying with some close family friends, and we just have a really great crew out here. I just feel the good energy and vibe,” said Brascia. “Tonight, I’m going to go back and watch the film from our last match, and I’m going into it with a lot of confidence in my game.”
