Bright, Rohrabacher use strong Game 3 to make second consecutive final
Anna Bright and Rachel Rohrabacher overcame a tough second game to secure an 11-5, 7-11, 11-4 victory over No. 4 seeds Jackie Kawamoto and Lucy Kovalova.
It looked like the top seeds would achieve a two-game triumph when they had a 7-3 lead in Game 2 after taking the first, but Kawamoto and Kovalova raised their level with some well-placed lobs and crafty attacks and went on to score the final eight points of the game to send it to a third.
After dropping the first two points of Game 3, Bright and Rohrabacher scored the match’s next ten points to all but seal the win.
“[Jackie and Lucy] definitely stepped up, and we also kind of stopped doing what we did to win the first game,” Rohrabacher said of dropping Game 2. “We were able to re-evaluate in Game 3 and got back to the gameplan."
