David, Wilson continue success in mixed dubs
MESA, AZ – No. 3 seeds Vivienne David and Thomas Wilson battled Jackie Kawamoto and Riley Newman in one of the most dynamic matches of the day on Friday.
The contest had spectators on the edge of their seats from start to finish, with David and Wilson ultimately earning an 11-7, 2-11, 15-13 victory.
“We’re not huge strategy people,” shared Wilson. “But, we’re both pretty athletic, strong, and we can hit harder than most people.”
David and Wilson have incredible chemistry on the court. You can tell they get along and they’re just having a good time. That could be the secret to their success.
“Honestly, we know that pickleball isn’t everything and we’re able to prioritize and have perspective on life,” shared David. “We’re goofballs out there on the court and we pick each other up on the court well. If we lose, it’s OK. There’s always another tournament around the corner. We have so much fun playing together and that’s something that’s really special in a partnership. He’s like a brother to me.”
A matchup with No. 2 seeds Anna Bright and James Ignatowich awaits in the semis.
