Devidze outduels Brascia in women’s singles
PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA – Seventh-seeded Salome Devidze punched her ticket to the semi-finals at the Vizzy Atlanta Open on Friday with an 8-11, 11-6, 11-3 victory over third-seeded Mary Brascia.
“I was rushing in the first game and missed a few balls,” shared Devidze, following her singles triumph. “But, I found my rhythm and reminded myself to slow down, calm down, stay on your feet, adjust with the weather, and play.”
Speaking of weather, Devidze didn't let the increasing humidity affect her at all.
“It wasn’t as humid in the beginning of the game, and that changed the speed of the ball as the match went on,” she said.
Devidze will go head-to-head with Parris Todd on Saturday.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s the round of 128 or the semi-finals, I’m always excited for any match,” she concluded.
