Frazier, Staksrud to battle for gold
Dylan Frazier is into the men’s singles final after an 11-7, 11-7 victory over No. 20 seed Eric Roddy.
The match was tight throughout, with the score being tied at 7-7 in both games.
The No. 6 seed proved to be too solid at the kitchen line in the tense moments, though, often using Roddy’s pace against him and redirecting volleys to the open court.

Sunday will mark Frazier’s first time competing in a PPA singles final since January, when he took home gold at the PPA Masters in Palm Springs, CA.
Making it back to Championship Sunday in singles isn’t an achievement he takes lightly.
“I was hoping [my next singles final] would come a little sooner,” he mentioned. “I felt like I had some momentum from the Masters tournament, but the results haven’t been there. The field is great these days—every single round is tough, and it’s never an easy route to the finals. I’m excited to get another shot at it.”
Roddy—who was competing in his first PPA semifinal—will have a chance to earn his first PPA medal in the bronze medal match.
Federico Staksrud claimed the second spot in Sunday’s final with an 11-4, 11-7 victory over No. 8 seed Jaume Martinez Vich.
Martinez Vich jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the second after dropping Game 1, but the top seed turned it on from there to finish the job in two games.
Staksrud and Frazier will square off for the first time since the bronze medal match at the Texas Open, which Staksrud won 6-11, 11-7, 11-9. The two also played in the gold medal match in Palm Springs, with Frazier winning that one 2-11, 11-7, 11-9.
We’ll see what Round 3 has in store on Sunday.
