Fully healthy Squeeze take down Flash
OVERLAND PARK, KS - The last time the Orlando Squeeze took the court at an MLP event, they were without three members of their typical roster.
That came in the final match of MLP Salt Lake City, where Parris Todd led temporary fill-ins Milan Rane, Roscoe Bellamy, and Spencer Smith to a DreamBreaker victory over the Utah Black Diamonds.
In Sunday’s first match at MLP Kansas City, the Squeeze showed what they can do when fully healthy. The squad featuring the aforementioned Todd, Vivienne David, Federico Staksrud, and Tyson McGuffin impressed with a 3-1 victory over the Dallas Flash, who hold the top spot in the Premier level standings.
Todd and David got Orlando on the board first with a women’s doubles win, which prompted Staksrud and McGuffin to do the same in men’s doubles to open up a 2-0 advantage.
Jorja and JW Johnson gave Dallas some hope by taking the first mixed doubles match, but David and Staksrud closed out the contest with a 25-18 triumph over Hurricane Tyra Black and Augie Ge.
This win gives Orlando a crucial three standings points, as the Squeeze try to overcome a lackluster start to the season and stay in the playoff hunt.
Orlando will take on the Los Angeles Mad Drops later Sunday afternoon, while Dallas will face the Columbus Sliders on Monday.
