Goldin, Johnson to battle for men’s singles title
MIAMI, FL - The story of the day in men’s singles at the APP Miami Pickleball Open is Grayson Goldin advancing to his first pro final.
On a day that featured several upsets, including both JW Johnson and Chris Haworth falling before the quarterfinals, Goldin maintained his form through all four of his matches.
The former University of South Florida tennis player took down Sacramento Open champion Will Howells in the Round of 16 and kept it going to overcome Stephen Madonia and Ryler DeHeart in the quarters and semis, respectively.
Having already secured his first pro medal, Goldin has only one man standing in between him and his first pro gold: Hunter Johnson.
Johnson endured a tough opening match against Zane Ford that went three games, but the top seed didn’t drop another game on his way to Championship Sunday in his matches against Purple Jesus Manthou, Ronan Camron, and Jack Foster.
He’ll be looking for his first gold of 2024—and Goldin will be in search of his first pro title—in Sunday's gold medal match.
