Jansen advances to semis with come-from-behind effort over Bright
MESA, AZ – Lea Jansen continues to prove why she was the third-seeded singles player at the Carvana PPA Mesa Arizona Cup.
Jansen's victory in the quarterfinals on Friday showcased her remarkable resiliency.
After dropping the first game 11-1 to Anna Bright, she rallied with a pair of 11-7 triumphs in the next couple of games to seal the deal.
“I went into this match a little blind. Anna was playing so well during that first game,” said Jansen. “I knew she couldn’t keep it up. I can be a very emotional player, but one of my biggest strengths is that I never quit and that makes me a good competitor.”
Jansen’s mental toughness was on full display on Humana Championship Court.
She will face either Anna Leigh Waters or Brooke Buckner in the semis.
