Qualifiers Fahey, Humberg set semifinal clash
OVERLAND PARK, KS - Kate Fahey and Mari Humberg booked their spots in the semifinals after starting off singles day in the qualifying draw.
Seeded No. 31 and No. 30 respectively, both Fahey and Humberg contributed to the wave of upsets that came over the women’s singles draw.
Fahey defeated No. 2 seed Lea Jansen, while Humberg outlasted No. 4 seed Lauren Stratman.
Both players are in pursuit of their first PPA singles medals, and a win in the semifinals would guarantee at least a silver for the victor.
The other semifinal matchup will pit Kaitlyn Christian—who beat top-seeded Catherine Parenteau in the quarters—against Brooke Buckner.
Those matches will be streamed on PickleballTV starting at 9am Central time Friday morning, on account of rain delaying the start of Thursday’s matches.
