Todd upsets Parenteau in women’s singles
PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA – Parris Todd is a part of another upset following Wednesday's mixed doubles triumph alongside Hunter Johnson.
On Thursday, Todd ousted No. 2 Catherine Parenteau in singles - 11-7, 3-11, 11-6.
“After she won the second game, I had to re-strategize, gather my thoughts, and make a game plan going into game three,” said Todd.
However, in the middle of game one, Todd rolled her ankle and had to take a timeout to get her trainer to make sure everything was in good shape.
“It was a little scary in the first few points going down like that and I wanted to go to the trainer and make sure I was okay. We have a long season out there,” mentioned Todd. “After that, I had to regroup, come back, and tell myself to keep running after balls. I was going to fight to the death, so even if my ankle is hurt, I’m still going to play.”
On Friday, Todd will play a quarterfinal matchup against either Tammy Emmrich or Lina Padegimaite.
