Waters, Parenteau claim gold with three-game victory over David, Schneemann
CARY, NC – Anna Leigh Waters is one step closer to claiming her 100th career title on the PPA Tour.
Waters and Catherine Parenteau defeated Vivienne David and Lacy Schneemann 11-4, 11-6, and 11-7 in the women's doubles gold-medal match at the Fanatics Sportsbook North Carolina Cup on Sunday.
“We went over our game plan and we remembered to stay aggressive. That’s when we play our best, and I felt like we did a good job doing that,” said Parenteau.
During her post-match interview, Parenteau confirmed that she will be taking a break from competition for about a month, before returning at the Vizzy Atlanta Slam in May.
“Sometimes if you overdo it, it can affect your mental health, so taking a month off is going to be good for us. Your health comes first. I think the mental part is 80% of the game, if not more, and the physical game is 20%, so it’s good to rest,” she explained.
Parenteau and Waters will battle for singles gold later in the day.
