Wright, Dizon survive against Jones, Stratman
PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA - Friday has been a day of Game 3 rallies, with Ben Johns and Tyson McGuffin showing off impressive resolve in close matches earlier in the day.
That theme continued into women’s doubles, where Etta Wright and Meghan Dizon overcame a 3-8 deficit in the deciding game against Allyce Jones and Lauren Stratman for a 9-11, 11-7, 11-9 triumph.
“I felt like we were able to lock in when we had to,” Dizon said of the comeback effort. “The conditions are definitely tough inside because it’s hard to see with the lights. I was really just trying to move my feet and really watch the ball.”
Wright was especially impressive in the match’s tight moments, as she consistently found ways to attack playing the left side.
“She’s my rock,” Dizon said of her doubles partner. “She’s always clutch, and I know I can lean on her when I’m not feeling well.”
With the win, the No. 3 seeds are into the semifinals where they will face either Anna Leigh Waters and Catherine Parenteau or Lacy Schneemann and Vivian Glozman.
